Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships (SWEP) is looking for an environmental educator to join our team. 

  • Job Description: SWEP works with students and teachers K-12 in the Tahoe Truckee region to promote environmental stewardship. Our programs are growing and we are looking for an educator that has a background in teaching and science, is an outdoor enthusiast, has team spirit and a love for working with children.

  • Desirable Skills: Ability to work independently, excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, as well as a teaching credential (exception could be made for someone with extensive teaching experience or that is in the process of pursuing a teacher’s certification), computer literate (experience with all Google applications), and a car & drivers license.

  • Typical responsibilities of the job includes:  Primarily preparing and facilitating lessons and service learning projects with K-12 students, but this job will also include project reporting, grant writing, working with partners, assisting with fundraising and district waste and sustainability efforts as well as office work related with needs of a small non-profit.

  • Hours: Our goal is to hire someone full time from Aug.15, 2020 - Nov. 15, 2020; to replace an employee on maternity leave. Considering part-time to full time after November, this will all be dependent on the status of COVID19 and the effects of school schedules.

  • Minimum Requirements: Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in teaching and or environmental science, 3-5 years work experience, ability to work independently, availability to start in August 2020.
