Our Recent Work in Action!

Wildfires are a growing threat in the Tahoe Basin. Last year alone, Truckee experienced three wildfires within a 20-mile radius in just one month. With climate change driving hotter, drier conditions, proactive wildfire preparedness and forest health education are more critical than ever.

In July 2025, community partners came together for the first-ever Fire Ready Truckee Tahoe event—a hands-on, family-friendly gathering designed to help residents learn how to prepare their homes, neighborhoods, and forests for wildfire.

Why is a healthy forest important? Is our forest healthy? Groups of students rotated through stations to dive deeper into these questions.
