What is this program? SWEP works directly with TTUSD facilities, food services, school site administration and custodial departments in partnership with the Town of Truckee, to help achieve school and community waste reduction goals.

How does this program work? SWEP assists TTUSD by managing the waste management subscription services with the Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal (TTSD). This includes managing dumpster services as well as waste diversion services (recycling) offered through TTSD. SWEP staff conduct waste management check-ins at all TTUSD school sites. The purpose of these site check-ins is to assess the waste management subscription services to ensure adequate service. SWEP also works with TTUSD to guarantee that as much waste as possible is diverted from the landfill. To do this, SWEP works with TTUSD facilities department, school site, administration and custodial staff as well as with teachers and students to make sure that waste diversion systems are in place and functioning efficiently. Waste diversion systems include: organic waste, recycling, smart sorting bins (terracycle), e-waste, and school supply donation & exchange.

Where is this program offered? This program is offered at all TTUSD schools.
