What is this program? SWEP teams up with the Sugar Pine Foundation to offer a re-vegetation and forest health monitoring field day where students participate in a hands-on forest stewardship project that involves re-vegetation, forest-quality monitoring and orienteering activities.
How does this program work? This program is a 2-day experience, one in-class pre-lesson where students learn the about the history of our forests, get introduced to the SWEP team, and prepare for the field day. The second day is the field day, where students arrive at the location and break into small groups to work with adult facilitators to complete various rotations designed to learn more about, and the restore the health of, our local forests.
Who can participate in this program? This program is designed for 7th graders.
Where is this program offered? North Tahoe School and Alder Creek Middle School. Other middle schools in the Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District are eligible to participate.
