Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships
The BMP Demonstration Garden project at Tahoe Lake Elementary School in Tahoe involved students design of the project in cooperation with Tahoe Resource Conservation District, Basile Management Practices, and others; removal of pavement, creation of planter boxes and an infiltration swale, planting of native plants, and extensive classroom learning directly connected to the project. TRCD's strong involvement in the project grew out of a desire to use the project as a demonstration for neighborhood best management practices (BMP) efforts, as well as a major commitment to educating students and parents in BMP.
