The purpose of the Youth Service Symosium is to give middle and high school students the opportunity to research, think creatively and engage in service learning projects. It is our intention that the symposium will empower youth, by providing them with a venue to show their peers and the community how their actions are making a difference!
The Youth Service Symposium has become an annual event for the youth of the Tahoe Truckee region and Region 3 service learning partnership. The Symposium began in 2006 as a youth version of a local conference on climate change. Teachers were encouraged to work on service learning projects, science projects and research on the topic of climate change. The symposium provided a venue for youth to present their projects and research and was a huge success in the first year.
