The global environmental issues facing our society today can be daunting and overwhelming for young minds. However, these issues must not be ignored or left to be solved later, by someone else. They must be tackled now, by those who will continue to be challenged by them, our youth.
The Envirolution club“Trashion” show is a strong entertainment tool for the opening of public and school assemblies which empower the audience to take a stance on our environmental future and get involved! This recycling fashion show of artsy outfits (made by the students themselves) are created out of materials that do not biodegrade easily. Each outfit has a commentary piece that is funny and educational, sending a message of positive action; everyone can consciously work at reducing, reusing, and recycling...the time to start is now!

The Bright Futures project is exciting because it is a youth initiated project in which high school students educate younger students and the community about energy issues and consumer waste through an educational assembly and energy efficiency retrofit project.
The Bright Futures project begins with
The youth involved in Bright Futures provide specific actions that reduce energy use and waste at school sites, homes and businesses by involving more students in making a positive difference.
Truckee High Envirolution club conducted assemblies at Truckee area schools, where, thanks to a partnership with the Truckee Donner Public Utility District and funding from the Teichert Foundation, students are handing out Energy Efficiency retrofit kits for students to install in their homes. More than 1,800 kits will be distributed.
Project Goals:
1. Increase the number of homes in the Truckee Tahoe region that have energy efficient retrofits (CFL bulbs, water saving devices)
2. Improve energy efficiency knowledge base throughout the greater community in a grass roots, successful, long lasting, and affordable “Energy Campaign”
3. Establish a program for youth leadership that positively impacts the environment and overall education of our community
