Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships
This group was initiated by Adopt-A-Watershed and continued by Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships under efforts to build capacity and coordination for Proposition 13 funded place-based service-learning (PBSL) programs in the Lake Tahoe Basin. The group is not currently active, but this information may be of use in future efforts.
This leadership group is composed of a number of individuals and the agencies and organizations they represent, primarily in the South Lake Tahoe area, though the group also works with Zephyr Cove & Stateline in Nevada.
Groups involved include: Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships (SWEP), Marine Reseach and Education, Lake Tahoe Environmental Education Coalition (LTEEC), Lake Tahoe schools (Lake Tahoe USD and private schools), USDA Forest Service, Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board, Tahoe Resource Conservation District, South Tahoe Refuse, Tahoe-Baikal Institute, Lake Tahoe Community College, and California Tahoe Conservancy.
The South Lake Community Coordinator, Dan Allison, facilitates the group. Dan is with SWEP and working under a grant from the California State Water Resources Control Board with Proposition 13 and related funds. The other partners with SWEP in this grant are Tahoe Resource Conservation District, LTEEC, and Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA).
