Missy comes to SWEP with over 15 years of education experience in the Tahoe Truckee region. She has taught and administrated programs within the Charter system and the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District.
Missy grew up on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe where her love and interest for the environment was fostered. After studying abroad and at UC Berkeley, Missy returned to settle in Tahoe. Shortly there after she began a school program in which she taught environmental education and science classes. One of her goals with this program was to empower children to discover their ability to become stewards of the Lake Tahoe region and beyond.
Missy says that her “goal is always to empower students towards realizing their potential for making a difference in protecting and supporting Lake Tahoe’s clarity and natural beauty”.

Ashley is a licensed teacher who recently received her Master's in Teaching from Sierra Nevada College. Originally from Rhode Island, she first became mesmerized by the natural world while exploring and sailing coastlines. Ashley moved to Lake Tahoe 11 years ago after earning a B. B in Geology and Geological Oceanography. She has had a variety of teaching experiences that have shaped her as an educator: sailing and windsurfing instructor, classrooom teacher, language coach, outdoor science instructor and marine lab science docent, to name a few. Ashley is the primary instructor at the Winter Discovery Center and heads up our classroom and field studies programs.

Chair Toni Rockwell is a newly retired teacher after 32 years in the classroom. Toni is a founding board member of SWEP.

Sue Rae Irelan is a part-time environmental planner, part-time Project Manager for the North Shore Recreation Committee, and a full-time Mom. Sue Rae is another founding member of SWEP.

Suzanne Wilkins works as a planner on various community and environmental projects in the Truckee Tahoe region.

Chris Hinkel is a realitor in Truckee. Chris became involved with SWEP when her daughter joined the Truckee High Envirolution club.
| Martini Morris |
Martini Morris has been impessed by SWEP's mission and activities since she first heard about the organization, and was very excited to join the Board of Directors. Martini is a strong endorser of place based learning and making science fun for kids. Martini has a passion for the outdoors and for implementing social fairness. She loves to hike, ski, rock climb and bike in the Sierra Nevada. Currently, Martini lives in Truckee and is a Project Assistant at the Sierra Business Council, where she works on innovative, solutions-based responses to economic, social and environmental problems. Martini grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia.

John Pang has been living at Lake Tahoe since 1979. He is the Meeks Bay Fire Department Chief and been a SWEP board member for over two years. John has an interest in protecting our watershed.
| Tamara Anderson, secretary |
Tamara Anderson has lived in the Tahoe area for the past 5o years. She is currently in her 25th year of teaching for the Tahoe Truckee USD. Her teaching credentials include, Life Science, Earth Science, and a multiple subject certificate. She spend many years as a trainer for UC Berkeley's Full Option Science System (FOSS), Adopt-A-Watershed, Women In Trees program and Trout in the Classroom. Tamara has served on the board of directors for the High Sierra Herb Garden and was one of the founding members of SWEP, serving on our very first board! She continues to lead the way in science education by creating and implementing new environmental projects for the school district.
